Library Events
On this page you will read about free events happening at our public library so that you can take your children. I am listing the library's phone number because even though the events are free, you might need to call ahead to register. Grab a book and have some fun!
Main Library (231-3760)Family (PJ) Storytime March 12 7pm Family storytime will be provided for a combination of both preschool and elementary ages along with their families. Children must be accompanied by an adult. Sessions will last approximately 30 minutes. Sessions will last approximately 30 minutes. Cinema Saturday: March 23 10am Come join us for a fun movie in the Children's Room! We will be showing Brave (rated PG). All children are welcome with parent permission. All children under the age of 9 must be accompanied by an adult. Jones Creek Library (756-1140)Pajama Storytime March 13 7pm
For children ages 3-7 years old and their families. Sessions last about 30 minutes "Elementary, My Dear" Bingo March 18 6:30pm Join us for a special Sherlock Homes version of BINGO! Dress as your favorite detective. Prizes will be awarded. This program is a part of the 2019 One Book One Community celebration. Pajama Storytime March 27 7pm For children ages 3-7 years old and their families. Sessions last about 30 minutes The Release of "Sankofa's Eymbrace" March 31 3pm The wait is over! Author and graphic artist, Antoine "Ghost" Mitchell explores with the audience, the creation and world of his new Afro-Fantasy comic book, "Sankofa's Eymbrace." A special reception will follow the presentation. Also, see Antoine's graphic arts exhibit at Jones Creek Regional Branch Library during the months of February and March. |
Fairwood Library (924-9385)Caterpillar/Butterfly Storytime/Craft March 16 11am
Listen to readings of The Very Hungry Caterpillar by Eric Carle and Waiting for Wings by Lois Ehlert. Then dance to butterfly songs with colorful scarves! Afterward, you can make a caterpillar hat and a handprint butterfly to take home with you. For children ages 3-7, accompanied by an adult. Registration is required. Registration begins February 7. Fairwood Awesome Bookworms March 19 4:30pm Join us for our March FAB children's book club meeting! We will be reading selections fromWelcome, Wombat by Kama Einhorn, a book in the new True Tales of Rescue series. It is written from the point of view of a wombat named Chance, who lives in a real animal sanctuary in Australia. Find out about the real wombats there and then practice drawing wombats and other Australian animals. For children ages 7-11. Please register to ensure your spot. Registration begins February 7. Weather & Wind Activities March 30 11am During this STEAM program, we will read Weather Watch: Wind by Jenny Fretland VanVoorst. Then, we will do experiments that show the power of wind, using straws, cotton balls, and paper. You will also get to make your own simple anemometer to take home. For children ages 7-11. Space is limited. Registration is required. Registration begins February 7. |
